Gypsum board is made by using gypsum (a mineral with a white sandy appearance) mixed with several different types of additives (such as pulp and starch) and adding water. This plaster is laid between two layers of paper to the desired thickness, and then baked in an oven to dry and harden the material. This process produces standard gypsum board.
