Getein ST2 Fast Test Kit is used in conjunction with clinical evaluation as an aid in assessing the prognosis of patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure.
ST2 Fast Test Kit
(Immunofluorescence Assay)
Intended Use
ST2 Fast Test Kit (Immunofluorescence Assay) is intended for in vitro quantitative determination of ST2 in serum, plasma or whole blood samples. The test is indicated to be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation as an aid in assessing the prognosis of patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure.
About ST2
ST2 (growth Stimulation expressed gene 2) is a novel cardiovascular biomarker and it is a member of the interleukin-1 receptor family. ST2 exists in 2 isoforms: a transmembrane bound form (ST2L) and a soluble form (sST2). Interleukin-33 (IL-33) is the ligand for both isoforms. When sST2 levels are low, IL-33 is available to bind to ST2L and has a cardioprotective effect resulting in preserved cardiac function. When sST2 levels are high, sST2 competitively binds to IL-33, making IL-33 less likely to bind to ST2L and thereby making it unavailable for cardioprotective signaling. As a result, the heart is subjected to greater stress in the presence of high levels of sST2, leading to cellular death and tissue fibrosis, reduced cardiac function, and an increase in the rate of disease progression.
