What is Zirconium Tetrachloride used for?
Zirconium Tetrachloride has been used as a textile water repellent and as a tanning agent. It is also used to make water-repellent treatment of textiles and other fibrous materials. The purified ZrCl4 can be reduced with Zr metal to produce zirconium(III) chloride. Zirconium(IV) Chloride (ZrCl4) is a Lewis acid catalyst, which has low toxicity. It is a moisture resistant material that is used as a catalyst in organic transformations.
