What is Sodium Pyroantimonate used for?
Sodium Pyroantimonate is mainly used as clarifier and defoamer for photovoltaic solar glass, monochromatic and color display tube glass, gem glass and leather manufacturing. It is a pentavalent forms of antimony most widely used as flame retardants in electronic manufacturing, engineering thermoplastics, rubber. It is also used as flame retardants for electronic equipment casings, resistance combustion compartment, flame retardant wire, textiles, plastics, building materials, etc.
It has been proved by scientific experiments and production that it has better technical performance than antimony oxide to be used as a flame retardant. It has better flame retardancy, lower light blocking and lower tinting strength in saturated polyesters and engineering thermoplastics. It has the characteristics of low reactivity, which is an advantage in sensitive polymers such as PET. However, antimony oxide, which is commonly used as flame retardants, tends to cause depolymerization during handling.
By the way, Sodium Antimonate (NaSbO3) is also used in industrial applications where special colors are required or when antimony trioxide may produce unwanted chemical reactions (IPCS ).
